Signing Up New Distributors Does You No Good if You Can’t Keep Them!

I frequently have the opportunity to speak at network marketing seminars around the country-generic events with people from various companies as well as corporate conventions.
When I ask the question, "What is your Retention System?" or "How do you keep people in your business after you recruit them?", the reaction from the public is always the same: they look like a deer staring into headlights...

Don't Wish this Business Was Easier, Wish You Were Better

How many times have you invited someone to an event and they tell you, "Yes, I will definitely try to make it." You KNOW when they tell you that, they have NO INTENTION OF COMING! But you tell them, "Great, I will save you a seat," and then go on your merry way telling yourself that you have a guest that will be coming to the event. When they don't show up, you are disappointed and of course you never see them again.

"Life is to be lived as a magnificent adventure, or not all." — Helen Keller. The sad truth is, most people live like sheep, following each other around: Go to work, get home, watch the electronic income reducer ... and continue the cycle day in and day out, living (as Emerson described it) "lives of quiet desperation" — and thinking this is normal simply because everyone else around them is doing the same thing! Ben Franklin said, "Most men die at age 25, but aren't buried until age 65!" What he was saying is that we quit dreaming. Sadly most people...

Is Your Website a Billboard in the Desert?
by Dale Calvert
It seems as though every week I have the same conversation with customers and coaching clients. It starts something like "Dale, I am not getting any results with my website, what can I do?"

There are two major factors for lack of good website results.

#1 Your site does not have a MWR (Most Wanted Response)

#2 You simply aren't getting enough numbers (traffic)

We will look at both of these challenges in this article. What is your Most Wanted Response? What is the purpose of your site?

Unfortunately many distributor websites are not designed to sell a particular product; they are nothing more than online catalogs with multiple product choices. This type of site is fine for distributors to place their personal product orders but extremely ineffective if you plan on marketing products online. One of the rules of any website should be "sell one thing and sell it well."

The more product choices you offer, the more likely that you will not sell anything. A confused mind does not take action.

I believe that every distributor...

How to Get Your Master's Degree in Lead Generation
by Dale Calvert
In today's marketing world most of my clients and customers suffer from the same thing: information overload. There is so much good marketing information available today that we can easily become distracted and take our eye off our ultimate goal.

Some of the best advise I have heard over the past couple of years has been "Say no to a lot of good ideas so you have time for the GREAT ones!"

If you want to build a large residual income with network marketing you cannot afford to let yourself get distracted by all the money-making methods and systems that consistently fill your email inbox and sometimes postal mail box.

A question you should always ask yourself:

"Does participating in this, or learning this, support my ultimate goal?"

Get clear about your reasons why you are doing what you are doing. It is easier to create a $1,000 monthly residual income ...

Sequential and Systematic Learning for Network Marketers
by Dale Calvert
Human beings learn two ways: through repetition and emotion.

Can you finish these sentences? Where is the ________? Who shot __________? I shot _____________? I can not believe I ate the whole ___________.

Depending on your age, many of you would answer: Where is the BEEF? Who shot JR? I shot the SHERIFF. I can not believe I ate the whole THING.

The above statements are advertising slogans, a song and a TV promotion that were pounded into the subconscious mind of America during their time.

How many times have you been driving down the road hearing a song you have not heard in years, but you know every note, every word, every beat?

Why does this happen? Because through repetition that song was programmed into your mind. You will remember it for the rest of your life and it will never...

How Are You Leading Your Team?
by Dale Calvert

What is your specific game plan to start your new distributors on the right track to success?

Unfortunately today in network marketing, far too many distributors are giving what I call the go sickem training program. They are brought into their program by a close friend or family member who has no experience or background in the networking profession.

Lets face it, the industry is full of the blind leading the blind. Is it any wonder the drop out rates are so high? Even worse, the internet is full of self proclaimed gurus trying to distract or steal members of your team, hiding behind the title of consultant or trainer.

In todays environment, more than ever, it is your job to lead your team. If you do not provide them a track to run on, somebody else will.

There are four dominant leadership styles...

Are You Sending Traffic to the Wrong Type of Website?
by Dale Calvert

In 1994 I set up my first website, MLMHelp.com. It is what is commonly called today a catalog site. I did not have a clue what I was doing, I violated virtually every rule of online marketing, but that site produced over $100,000 in sales the first year and it has never done less.

The one thing I did do correctly was add a monthly, No Fluff MLM Marketing, e-zine that visitors could subscribe to. Sometime in 1996 I ran across the Inside Secrets to Marketing on the Internet Course by the late Corey Rudl.

I thought it was awesome, so I included information about the course in my monthly e zine. 30 days later I received a call from Coreys office telling me I had set a record for the highest affiliate sales in one month in the history of the company and they were sending me a check for $17,000.00.

I am slow, and at that point I still did not get it. It took over two years before I ever sent out another promotional email. I built that list to over 90,000 subscribers and had a partner erase the entire data base. Experts tell us that you should earn about $1.00 per month per e-zine subscriber-Ouch!

I could go on and on with the success and failure I have experienced online over the past 15 years, however let me share a concept with you that I know can make a powerful impact on your business right now.

The number one mistake I see network marketers making right now, is they are sending traffic to the wrong kind of website. I am still shocked at the number of distributors who pay good money to create website traffic and then send those visitors to a corporate self-replicated site.

Understand there are basically a handful of website development companies that provide...

Sales People Close - Network Marketers Develop Leaders
by Dale Calvert

As I look back on the last 30 years in the network marketing profession, a paradigm shift that really took my business to a new level was realizing that I was not in the sales business but the leadership development business.

It is very important that you understand this as it relates to recruiting new team members. Sales people close, but not network marketing leaders.

If you have to close them into your business, you will have to continue to sell them to do anything after they join. Nobody has time for that.

You are looking for people who are looking for opportunity.

A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still.

When I first got involved in network marketing I read all the classic sales books and made the mistake of thinking I should attempt to close people in the business. The bottom line is, long term this does not work. You may be able to talk them into the business but network marketing is about more than a one-time up front commission.

If you want to learn to...

A Network Marketing Organization Is Built Between Your Ears
by Dale Calvert
In the old days they would refer to network marketing as a "personal development program with a compensation plan attached to it." Today, we seem to be trying to take average people with a mindset of mediocrity and make them as they are, into network marketing professionals.

You can't send a duck to eagle school! They can get their eagle certificate, their eagle badge and their eagle cap. You can parade them across the stage and let them shake the CEO's hand, but all you really have is a dressed-up duck!

I am not trying to be harsh or cruel, just realistic...
