A Whole New Why
When asking what makes the Millennials tick, we also asked what makes human beings tick in general. Which led us to the work of bestselling author Daniel Pink and his latest megabestseller, Drive. Dan is the author of Free Agent Nation, A Whole New Mind, and The Adventures of Johnny Bunko, which earned the distinction of being the first ever American manga business book and the only graphic novel ever to become a Business-Week bestseller. According to Drive, there has been a sea change in the nature of what motivates us in the workplace, and if we want our businesses to be successful, we’d better understand what that change is all about.

The Global Generation
For this issue on the Millennial generation, we decided to explore the concept of "emerging adulthood," the life stage from the late teens through the twenties, and interview the man who coined the term. A research professor in psychology at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, Dr. Jeffrey Arnett first presented his theory of emerging adulthood in an article in American Psychologist in 2000, followed by numerous scholarly articles on the same topic. That article has been widely cited and its premise broadly embraced, leading to the publication in 2004 of his book, Emerging Adulthood: The Winding Road from Late Teens through the Twenties.

Carried by Grace
Steve and Beth Morgan are a Michigan-based Gen Y couple leading a network marketing organization of several thousand people in the U.S. and Canada. Along with building their business, they love being stay-at-home parents and home schooling their three young children. The life Steve and Beth have created was inconceivable to them nine years ago, when they were newly engaged and still living with their parents. They had no idea how to create the kind of wealth that would allow them to leave their dead-end jobs and create financial freedom.
