The Psychology of Booking Parties
by Karen Phelps
Booking parties becomes so easy once you understand both the "how" and the "why". I've never seen anyone who, once they learned the "Psychology of Booking" couldn't keep their calendar full.

Is there a "Psychology of Booking"? You bet! Some consultants understand it right away but some never learn it! I've seen consultants quit after a few years because they were tired of their constant battle to get bookings. They obviously never got it.

I've observed people begin a direct selling business by asking others to have parties to help them get started and never explain to the host "what's in it for them". I've listened to consultants saying they feel as if they are begging people when asking someone to host a party.

Truth is, I wouldn't have lasted for over twenty two years if I had to spend my time begging. What is the secret that...

You'll Get More Bookings When You Make Your Parties Fun!
by Karen Phelps

The Home Party Plan business is still booming! As new companies form each year consultants struggle to get their share of the bookings. Are you one of the consultants who struggle for bookings or do bookings fall into your lap? Getting bookings from your parties is easier than you think, however, it may require a change in your thinking.

When you began your Direct Selling business you probably began like most consultants by begging your friends and family to help you get started. Feeling insecure about yourself, you went and did the parties and may have gotten a few bookings but not enough to replace all of the parties you held.

You might have found yourself at a dead end and had to begin again by calling more prospects for new bookings only to repeat the cycle. Most consultants, even top sellers find themselves in an occasional dry spell, however...

The Soft Economy Can Be Great for Business
by Karen Phelps

Sometimes you have to address the elephant in the room before you can move forward in your business. Of course, the elephant no one can get away from right now is the economy. The exciting news is, if you are smart youll use the economy as a way to get better results from your direct selling business.

There is always two ways to look at every situation. You can think, This is awful, this economy is going to kill my business. Or you can be thinking, Wow, how can I help people who are having difficulties right now? Once you begin to look for solutions instead of problems you will see your business explode.

Every negative thought and reaction will create negative results. Continually focusing on whats wrong will prevent you from finding constructive ways to grow your business. Sometimes, it really is as easy as looking at a glass as half-empty or half-full.

Whats your natural instinct in challenging situations? Are you pessimistic about what is happening, feeling frustrated because things are out of control? Are you optimistic that you can still get the results you want from your business but realistic in knowing you will have to implement some different strategies and tactics to improve results?

Booking Parties Is Easy!
by Karen Phelps
(This article is excerpted from the Ultimate Direct Selling Guide by Karen Phelps.)

If you want to build your business through home parties, you must decide if you want to become an order taker or a booker. An order taker will continually have a lack of bookings, whereas a booker will always have an abundance of them!

In direct sales and network marketing, there are several ways to earn money. One of them is selling your products or taking orders and earning a commission on your sales. You most likely do this very well.

However, if this is all you do, you will always be looking for creative bookings because youll leave many parties without any. You will continually be prospecting because...

Let Everyone Know You Are Open for Business
by Karen Phelps

(Excerpted from Karen Phelps Ultimate Direct Selling Guide)

Once you have set your earnings goal, delegated time for your business, and participated in recommended training, the next step is to have an open-for-business party. This party will launch your new business. Or if you have been in business for a while and your business has stalled, you may want to re-launch. Imagine opening your business in a storefront on Main Street. What would you do to get customers? You would have a grand opening. You would invite people to come and check out your new store.

Even though you do not have a storefront you still must let everyone know you are open for business. Your open-for-business party, your grand opening, whatever your company calls it, should be scheduled anywhere within your first seven to ten days of joining your direct selling company. You need to let everyone know you have started...

Uncover the Secret of How to Build a Team to Multiply Your Earnings
by Karen Phelps

(Excerpted from Karen Phelps’s Ultimate Direct Selling Guide)

You can help your new recruit succeed in the business when you take time to find out her goals at the interview, or when she says, “Yes, I want to become a consultant.” The sooner you find out what your new recruit’s goals are, the easier it will be for you to work with the consultant and get her moving in the right direction.

Expect Your New Recruits to Succeed

Let your new recruit know what she needs to begin working on immediately. Assign homework at the interview, and inform her right away of the things she needs to do to get her business started on the fast track to success. It’s easy to get someone to do things as long as you also remind her that your purpose is to help her to succeed and reach her goals. I used to say, “Your first thirty days are going to be both busy and exciting. You’ll be learning how to do the business and holding your first parties. I’m going to help you begin earning right away.”...read more
