Adrianna and Jennipher are each building an international network marketing business from their homes in Pennsylvania. Committed to staying home with their young children, both moms wanted to find a way to contribute financially so their husbands wouldn’t need to work as much overtime to support their growing families. Adrianna was first to get started, then enticed her sister Jennipher to join her. A year later, both sisters reached the top level in their company. Today they are committed to helping other women, especially young moms, to succeed in an opportunity that completely changed their lives.—J.G.
Born in 1984 in Maryland, I grew up mainly with my father and my sister. We didn’t have much money, but we had each other. I always knew I wanted the most out of life, even though I struggled growing up.
I started babysitting at age 13, moved out on my own at age 16, and met my now husband Josh at age 18. By the time I turned 21, we had our first son Josh, and shortly after our second Brad.
At age 20 I was a loan processor in a small family-owned business in the town of Frederick, MD. As soon as I became a mom, I started looking for ways to work from home. I thought about getting my real estate license, but I didn’t have credit or money for that, so I kept searching. I knew I would find something one day. I stumbled upon network marketing by researching “work from home” and “stay-at-home mother.” I’ve been in direct sales since I was 20 years old.
I tried several companies before I found my home. The key is to keep looking until you find something you can be passionate about. I learned this later, which led me to success. I failed, failed, and failed—until I discovered personal development. That is when things started working for me. I’m currently in my fourth company. It takes time to find the one that is right for you and your lifestyle.
One major challenge I had to overcome was being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 17. It has played a big role in my adult years and has had a major impact in my life, from not being able to go places, to holding me back from doing some of the things I really wanted to do in my life. I had to learn how to live with an auto-immune disease that no one can control. Getting up early in the morning and rushing to go to work was not an option for me. Working from home became a God-sent!
Another struggle my husband and I faced was living paycheck to paycheck, like the majority of America. After our first child was born in 2005, we decided I would stay home with the kids, and he would go out and earn money. Even with Josh working over forty hours a week for more than ten years, we were never getting ahead. We were proud of our family and everything we had earned in life, but we knew we wanted and deserved more.
When I started my business, the biggest challenge was people not believing in me or in network marketing—especially the people closest to me. Your friends and family may not support you at first. It is up to you to decide how you want your business to grow, and how you want your life to go. Don’t let anyone affect or change what you want in life.
Finally, having low self-esteem, being made fun of, and not feeling good about yourself are all factors that can undermine your ability to be successful. Being featured in my company’s catalog and website was a huge honor that helped me build my confidence.
Adrianna’s Top 6 Tips
Initially my daily mode of operation was waiting for people or things to come to me. After a while I learned that this does not work. You have to get up and get what you want in life! Of course, now I do income-producing activities, personal development, and I help others on my team achieve their goals. It’s hard to describe the excitement and enjoyment I get out of making women feel amazing about themselves—from young girls to older beautiful woman who never felt comfortable applying makeup, or just never had the confidence to step out in the world and have a business they can call their own. What brings me the ultimate gratification is all the gifts and messages I receive saying how my makeup tutorials or videos or story has changed their lives for the better.
My favorite prospecting approach is of course blitzing! Getting out and meeting new people is what this business is all about. Building relationships is paramount. Adding five people to your network a day keeps the money coming your way. Doing one-on-one makeup playdates, Periscope, vendor events, social media, anything that gets you and your business out there is key!
How I create duplication and provide leadership:
My sponsor dropped out at the beginning of my journey, so I rolled up to Kanesha Morrison. She has been a great support, but I also had to figure a lot out on my own. I had to learn to take initiative and be resourceful. I consider Amber Voight a great mentor. I love watching videos and listening to Eric Worre, Sarah Robbins, Anthony Robbins, and Les Brown. I also recommend everyone watch The Secret DVD, as it changed my perspective on life.
My dream is for network marketing to become more mainstream, and for more people to realize that this profession isn’t a scam. I also want people to see that this isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme; we have to work hard for the money we earn. My vision for myself is to be an inspiration, someone others can look up to. I also want to create financial freedom for myself and my family. I want to give back to the community by starting a nonprofit organization, supporting a charity, or through various personal donations. My other goals are to write a book, start a college fund for my kids, pay my house off, and continue to grow my team.
Building internationally, I learned that we all want the same things in life. For women, this includes feeling beautiful from the inside out. My mission is to uplift, empower, and validate everyone.
Before I started my business at age 30, I had been a stay-at-home mom for 10 years. My sister Adrianna introduced me to network marketing, because she knew I was ready to make a change. I was tired of my husband having to work so much overtime in order for me to be able to stay home.
I knew the only solution was to find a way to financially contribute by working from home. I also was at a point in my life where I was ready to do some self-discovery and self-growth. Being a stay-at-home mom for so long and supporting everyone around you most often results in putting yourself last.
The opportunity to build a business without having to sacrifice my family has been life-changing. Through my journey with network marketing I have managed not only to earn an income that allows my husband to be home more often, but also to empower other women to take the same leap of faith.
I find that today women everywhere are seeking ways to balance family and career. Network marketing has been that blessing for my family by providing just that. My decision to begin this journey has resulted in discovering my self-worth and realizing my full potential. This has made me an overall better wife, mother, and friend.
I started in my first company after my third daughter was born. I worked with that company for about a year before I found out I was pregnant with our fourth child. That’s when I was introduced to my current company.
I instantly fell in love with the versatility it offered. It was the first social media-based company that enabled me to work strictly from my phone. This was very appealing to a five-month pregnant mom of three who was always on the go!
I had to overcome a lot of negativity and struggled with lack of support from family and friends. Through personal development, I was able to conquer self-doubt and motivate myself to stay focused. I never gave people around me the power to determine my success. Whenever I faced doubt, I pushed even harder to prove them wrong. Proper mindset and my ability to become self-reliant are what got me through my early days.
I set personal goals for myself, which I break down into daily tasks. I incorporate exercise into my daily routines, because I firmly believe it increases productivity. I also strive to do daily personal development. I spend half of my day working on my business and the other half taking care of my youngest children.
I absolutely love my one-on-one consultations with my clients. I focus on building relationships and trust with my team and customers. I also love being able to reach my clientele around the world by setting up virtual or on-site consultations.
I enjoy participating in local vendor events and have found it to be highly beneficial for creating relationships within the local community. I make it a point to visit businesses around town and network with other local entrepreneurs.
I create duplication and provide leadership for my team through a series of videos specifically designed to give step-by-step training. I also incorporate one-on-one phone calls with my leaders into my weekly schedule.
Jenniepher’s Top 3 Tips
I strive to develop more leaders so that the valuable information always trickles down. I work closely with my top leaders and value their friendships and opinions. I believe there is strength in numbers, and that collaborating with other leaders is the ultimate formula for success.
I also host weekly team calls and frequently do team meetups. Leading by example has always been my approach. I believe you can never ask someone to do something you are not doing yourself, so I strive to be the strongest performer on the team.
There are many people in my company I looked to for inspiration. They include Kanesha Morrison, Amber Voight, Bri Richardson, Sherri Brown, and of course my sister Adrianna. A huge turning point in my business occurred when I was introduced to Eric Worre and his GoPro book. I also have found major inspiration in Sarah Robbins and her Rock Your Network Marketing Business book. I owe my success to countless other top leaders in many other companies. I live by the motto, “The more you learn, the more you earn.”
Looking into the future, my desire is to create a legacy for my children. I also want to empower other women who are in my situation to realize their full potential. I want to tell them you don’t have to sacrifice being a mom in order to have a successful business. You can have the best of both worlds.
My ultimate goal is to write a book to help others get started in network marketing. I would love to travel and speak to women around the world about the advantages of having your own business. I want to inspire and encourage them to believe in themselves, even when the people closest to them don’t.
I love that I’m able to work with people all over the world thanks to social media. I have team members in other states and even in other countries. I have managed to lead my worldwide team mostly from my phone. I look forward to teaching many more moms to do the same and enjoy the amazing freedom our business provides.
