Growing up in Eastern Europe in a blue-collar family of nine kids, I discovered early on that I had bigger dreams than my dad could afford to pay. At age eleven, I started doing all I could to provide for myself. However, I didn’t understand what entrepreneurship was until I was about twenty-one. In our family, “money was the root of all evil.” I was taught to go to school and get a real job.

At age twenty-one, I was invited to a network marketing event in Germany, and for the first time in my life I heard about personal development and entrepreneurship. I was so blown away that I joined the company on the spot. As a welcome gift, I received four CDs including Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Suddenly, like a kid in a candy store I started devouring every piece of personal development training I could get my hands on.

This event changed my life forever. I was studying mechanical engineering, but I now realized I didn’t want to have a job when I was done with school, so I thought I better do something else.

Six months later a miracle happened. When attending a Youth Conference in the U.S. I met the most amazing girl, Ella (who today is my wife). This turned my life even further upside down, and three months later I moved to the U.S. I also decided I would not work for anyone but myself and started pursuing the American dream with every fiber of my being.

In 2006, my first year in the U.S., I learned English and studied for my real estate license in order to start my own real estate business. In 2007, I made my first big investment into personal development: I was broke and desperately needed a breakthrough so I took a huge gamble and raised $20,000 to attend an entrepreneur school and learn how to run a successful business. This provided the foundation for the rest of my life.

To date, I have invested over $120,000 into personal development education. In 2008, I got back into network marketing, but now I was truly ready for it. Even though I was a new immigrant to the U.S., I was able to build three different businesses in separate industries, generating over $32 million in revenue.

I have just published my first book, Think and Grow Rich Today, and have several other exciting projects in the works—and it all started with a simple invitation from a friend to hear about a network marketing opportunity. In a way, I was silly enough to listen, but smart enough to follow through, and it has allowed me to live my dreams.

Jim Rohn said it best, “Always work harder on yourself than you work on your business.”
