Savvy Women Leadership Academy
Mentoring Program for Women in Network Marketing and Direct Sales

By Sonia Stringer (2011)

Sonia Stringer says she has always found it shocking that only a small percentage of the women involved in network marketing/direct sales earn a substantial income and become top leaders in their companies.

A former national sales trainer with Anthony Robbins and business coach for women, Sonia set out to find a solution to this problem. She has created a customized training program for women that picks up where most of the traditional training leaves off. The Savvy Women Leadership Academy is an ongoing mentoring program that teaches critical skills and covers topics essential to the savvy, professional women building home-based businesses today.

Women in the program learn different strategies to become effective at selling products and sponsoring leaders in a way that leaves the old-school techniques behind and is more aligned with their natural strengths. They also learn how to build their businesses while juggling family demands, how to leverage their time, how to set up support and systems, and other ways to be successful without burning themselves out. Real Savvy Success
Empowering and Celebrating the Female Entrepreneur

With Donna Valdes, Jackie Ulmer, Kimber King, Jodi Stott (founded in 2010)

Why do men tend to dominate the stage at most network marketing events while the audience is made up of at least an equal number of women? This is a question Donna Valdes—and probably other women—pondered for years. In early summer 2010 she asked herself, "What if we could organize an event that focuses on the specific challenges women face in their businesses, and how women build differently from men?" She shared her idea with WAHM (Work-At-Home-Mom) and business coach Jackie Ulmer, who immediately got excited. Next, they connected with Jodi Stott and Kimber King, who had just launched their Real WAHMs Internet Radio Show, designed to help women succeed in building thriving home businesses. Jodi and Kimber were already interviewing top women earners and leaders in network marketing, so it was a natural next step to invite them to speak at a live training. This is how Real Savvy Success was born. The first event took place in Florida, April 2011, and was followed by a second event on the West Coast six months later. Real Savvy Success developed a thriving online community through its blog and weekly training calls, and launched a group mentoring program called Real Savvy Success Academy. Join the movement at RealSavvySuccess.com and stay tuned for the next live event, date to be determined.
Miss Representation

Directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom (2011)

With Cory Booker, Margaret Cho, Katie Couric, Geena Davis, Rosario Dawson, Dianne Feinstein, Jane Fonda, Paul Haggis, Catherine Hardwicke, and Gloria Steinem

Like drawing back a curtain to let bright light stream in, this 90-minute documentary uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it more difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

In a society where media is the most persuasive force shaping cultural norms, the collective message that young women and men overwhelmingly receive is that a woman's value and power lie in her youth, beauty, and sexuality, and not in her capacity as a leader.

Stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists, and academics, such as Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario Dawson, and Gloria Steinem, build momentum as Miss Representation accumulates startling facts and statistics that will leave you shaken and armed with a new perspective.

The film premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, aired on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in October 2011, and has since grown into a movement and call-to-action campaign that seeks to empower women and girls to challenge limiting labels in order to realize their potential and transform our culture for the betterment of all.
