I got started in network marketing just after my nineteenth birthday. My dream had always been to be a professional athlete, but after tearing my rotator cuffs going into my freshman year of college, I was forced to shift gears.

Fast forward ten years, and I am living my dream life while helping countless others. I feel I have found my sweet spot in the profession, and I know I can help many others jump right over some of the less pleasurable experiences while growing their business.

Here's why you want to recruit Gen Y into your business: there are close to 80 million of us. That means we are a group nearly as large as the baby boomers. We don't want corporate America's restrictions and limitations. We want to travel and enjoy complete freedom. We make up 30 percent of all Internet users and know how to use technology to get things done quickly and effectively. Gen Y is all about living the laptop lifestyle.

What is the secret to having Gen Y filling up your inbox with messages asking, "How do I join your team?"

  1. Thanks to social media sites, such as Facebook and YouTube, we can now leverage ourselves more than ever before. If you grow your friends list to 1,000 people and they each have an average of a few hundred friends, you can potentially reach hundreds of thousands of young people with a click of a button.

  2. If you want to connect with Gen Y, start creating your own brand on Facebook and YouTube. The key here is that people ultimately will join you, not your company. An important question to ask yourself is, "Am I living a life that others would want to live, and am I being someone others would want to partner with?"

  3. Start documenting any fun you're having by sharing it on your social media networks. This doesn't take more than a few minutes a day, because you can post and upload straight from your smartphone. The key is to consistently post inspiring captions or motivational quotes. Never put anything negative out there. One post that doesn't sit well with someone could be the last post of yours they ever read.

  4. Make sure to leave positive comments on others' posts, too, and never plaster anything about your business opportunity on other people's pages. The goal is to intrigue people to want to learn more about you and to get them excited about visiting your page.

You will see some immediate returns with this method, but most of your success will come months down the road, as you continue to shine your light on the social media world.

Be an inspiration to those around you and be prepared for the ripple effect of your contribution. You will reach countless lives worldwide from where you started by clicking a few buttons.
