What’s love got to do with it?…Everything! In a very real sense, network marketing is nothing less than an expression of love. Indeed, its very basis is sharing: sharing the path to a new and better life. Could you think of a more loving act?

But don’t just take my word for it.

Yale Professor Robert J. Sternberg has written that, “love has three components: intimacy, passion, and commitment.” These are also the keys to success in network marketing.

Take passion, for example. You must be passionate about your products. To no small degree, it is the passion network marketers feel about their products that makes people want to buy them. Frankly, without that passion, you cannot succeed. With passion, however, all things are possible!

Commitment, too, is an essential quality. You must be committed to carrying your message to others. Being successful in network marketing is not easy. It takes hard work and discipline, and these do not come without commitment.

Intimacy is also important, not in the physical sense of romantic love, but in the spiritual sense of filial or brotherly love. This intimacy must be an integral part of your relationship with your downline. They must believe that you genuinely care about them and about their success.

Maya Angelou said, “If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.” Nowhere is this more valid than in network marketing!

When people know that you care, they too, will care. That emotion, in turn, will inspire them to do the things that will guarantee their success—which is what will provide you with your success. It will also serve as an example to them in dealing with others and spread the circle of love even further. That’s one of the great things about love—it’s contagious.

All successful network marketers recognize that their field is more than just a business—it is a lifestyle. What some may fail to understand, however, is that at its core, it is a lifestyle based in love. Love of what you do, love of helping others, love of life itself. It is an affirmation of all that is positive in the human spirit—hard work, caring, helping others.

If that’s not love, I don’t know what is!
